St. Mary's selects the team of FCI/McCarthy as Construction Manager/General Contractor for The Century Project

November 10, 2005

Grand Junction, Colorado — St. Mary's Hospital and Regional Medical Center has selected the team of FCI/McCarthy as the construction manager/general contractor for the Hospital's Century Project. FCI/McCarthy is a joint venture of Grand Junction-based FCI Constructors and McCarthy Building Companies, a national healthcare builder. The joint venture of FCI/McCarthy brings together FCI’s local experience as a leading provider of construction services in Colorado with McCarthy’s depth of experience demonstrated by having completed over 600 major healthcare projects nationwide.

In announcing the selection, St. Mary's CEO Robert Ladenburger noted that, "St. Mary's must continually grow and adapt to ensure that we can meet our mission of improving the health of the individuals and communities we serve. We are very pleased that we will be able to team with local businesses on this project, building on our century-old tradition of full partnership with our community."

The Century Project provides for the construction of a new Patient Tower and for the reconfiguration and remodeling of existing hospital space. The Patient Tower will be a multi-story building constructed adjacent to the existing hospital building. Total construction cost for the Century Project will be about $148 million.

Rob Jenkins, owner's representative for St. Mary's, said, "At each step in the process of assembling our team, we have looked for organizations with outstanding records of performance on healthcare and hospital projects. With this joint venture of FCI/McCarthy, we get both the extensive, large-scale healthcare experience of McCarthy and the unique regional knowledge and experience of FCI."

The selection of the contractor now enables the full project team to finalize the design work and prepare construction documents in anticipation of beginning the Patient Tower construction in January 2007.
