A Typical Interview Day
We have an eventful day planned for you. Spouses or significant others are encouraged to attend much of the interview day with the exception of medicine rounds. We can usually arrange an alternate agenda for them during medicine rounds which could include exploring Grand Junction or visiting with a current resident's spouse. Just let us know.
8 am - Meet at the St. Mary's Family Medicine Center (corner of 12th & Patterson), see a short video about the program & the area. You can enter through Entrance #43. There is an elevator and stairs in the middle of the atrium that will take you to the second floor. Joan, Becky & Melissa are in the northwest corner of the building. Just follow the signs.
8:30 am - Interview with faculty
9:00 am - We will take you to the hospital and introduce you at rounds.
9:05 - 10:00 am - Sample Teaching Rounds (See how we do it!)
10:00 - 10:45 am - Tour of hospital with a resident (what do you want to see?)
10:45 am - We will give you a brief driving tour of Grand Junction and bring you back to the FMC. Spouse/significant others are welcome to join us for the rest of the interview day.
11:15 - 11:45 am- Tour the FMC with clinic staff and learn about the clinic.
11:45 am - 12:15pm - Interview with faculty
12:15 - 1:00 pm - Come-and-go catered Lunch with the residents
1:00 - 1:30 pm - Interview with a resident
Formal interviews usually conclude by 2 p.m as a courtesy to allow you travel time. You are welcome to stay as long as you can to see resident & faculty interactions in the preceptor's area & for informal conversation. Please stay & explore our beautiful Grand Valley, the Colorado National Monument, the Grand Mesa or other interesting areas. Come & participate with whatever resident activity may be planned.
Please feel free to contact Becky if you have any questions about your travel to Grand Junction or your interview day. If you are unable to come at your scheduled time, please call Becky as soon as possible so we can reschedule your appointment and open the slot for another applicant.
We look forward to meeting you!
