Clerkship Information
Fourth year Family Medicine clerkships of 3-4 weeks are available to medical students from LCME (Liaison Committee on Medical Education) accredited or AOA approved medical schools. You will be in the outpatient clinic paired with a faculty or senior resident as your preceptor. One week is spent on the Teaching Service admitting and following patients. A Sub-I in Internal Medicine has recently been added to the Family Medicine clerkship. This divides time between our Hospitalists and the residency's inpatient teaching service. Specify IM-SubI on the clerkship application. If you would like a taste of solo practice in a town of 1,000, we can usually incorporate some time in Collbran during your visit. The clinic is in a beautiful mountain valley at 7,000 ft, one hour from Grand Junction.
A very rural experience with two of our graduates is usually available during your time here if you would like.
Enjoy the many recreational opportunities nearby while you participate in all the educational offerings. This is a great opportunity to experience the program and see if it is a good fit for you.
We usually have housing available for a nominal fee. Share a house on the St. Mary's Hospital Campus, just steps away from the work, overlooking a beautiful park.
Use the Family Medicine Clerkship Application (40kb,doc) document to apply. If possible, please submit applications via email. Applications will be accepted beginning February 1st for the following academic year.
