Cardiac care helps St. Mary's earn 2008 'Leapfrog' award
St. Mary's Hospital has been named a "Highest Value Hospital" by the Leapfrog Group. St. Mary's is one of only 13 hospitals in the country and the only Colorado hospital to be recognized for its combination of quality care and appropriate use of resources. St. Mary's earned the award based on top scores for coronary bypass graft procedures, coronary intervention procedures, treatment of acute myocardial infarction, and pneumonia care.
The Leapfrog Group uses medical practices proven to result in better outcomes for patients, also known as evidence-based medical practices, to set standards for the care of various conditions. Performance, policies, and patient outcomes are examined to determine a hospital's progress toward meeting Leapfrog's standards. Leapfrog reviewed more than 1,220 hospitals nationwide for the "Highest Value Hospital" award.
