Student Nurse Administrative Information

To ensure everything is in place for your students' clinical placement at St. Mary's Hospital, please review the following information.

Note: Student and Instructor registration is completed through an online registration process. An appointee from the school will be needed to facilitate this process.  Missing or late application and registration materials may jeopardize a student's clinical rotation.

Eight Weeks prior to the first clinical day

  1. Verify that your school's current Certificate of Insurance is on file with St. Mary's and that it covers the entire upcoming clinical rotation

    • Check with your department head or dean, or contact St. Mary's administration office at 970-298-1950 to check the status of your school's insurance coverage.

    • Certificate of Insurance can be faxed to 970-298-7510.

  2. Appoint a school representative to manage the electronic student nurse registration process for St. Mary's Hospital.  Communicate this person's contact information to the student nurse liaison at St. Mary's Hospital.

  3. Communicate deadlines for completion of electronic student nurse registration and orientation to students.  Be sure the school representative managing this process follows up with students who have not completed the registration and orientation process so all items are completed no later than two weeks prior to the first clinical day.

Two Weeks prior to the first clinical day

  • Complete and submit clinical schedules to the student placement coordinator via e-mail. Use any format you find convenient as long as it indicates all students' schedules while at St. Mary's.

  • Arrange for ID badges

    • After completing all required electronic registration and orientation documentation, students should allow two weeks processing time before picking up their St. Mary's Hospital ID badge.

    • The St. Mary's Hospital ID badge is a pre-requisite for participating in clinicals at St. Mary’s Hospital. Students may pick up their St. Mary's Hospital ID badge at our Human Resources Department (Map Link) after their St. Mary's Hospital background check has cleared.

    • You may arrange for you and your students to obtain ID badges as a group by contacting the student placement coordinator; or

    • Clinical instructors and students may come in individually to have their photo taken and ID badge issued at St. Mary's Human Resources office on St. Mary's East Campus (Madden Hall, 2320 B North 7th Street, Entrance 34), Monday-Friday, 7:30 am-4:00 pm.
