You and your loved ones are invited to join St. Mary's support groups for recovery education, relaxation, therapies, and discussions. Support groups are a free service provided by St. Mary's Hospital.
Cancer Care Support Groups
St. Mary's Regional Cancer Center offers many programs for people living with cancer and those who love them. All groups are free and led by trained instructors and meet at St. Mary's Advanced Medicine Pavilion, 750 Wellington Avenue, Entrance 25, Grand Junction, CO. Stroke Support Group
Meetings are the third Friday of each month from 1:00-2:30 pm at St. Mary's Life Center, 2686 Patterson Road, Entrance 40, second floor, Grand Mesa Room. Dates for 2014 are below.
January 17: "Life Goal Setting for 2014," by Kelly Arnold, RN, Stroke Program Coordinator
February 21: Stroke survivor, Linda Kamby, will read short stories and poems she has written.
March 21: Hobby demonstration by survivors—bring your hobby/crafts/or be ready to share! Marian Dorn will teach us about vegetarian eating as well.
April 18: Music presentation by Jeffrey Pine, excellent local musician!
May 16: Yoga demonstration and practice—Shiloh Hendricks
June 20: Picnic potluck at Sherwood Park
July 18: "Physical Therapy Techniques and Communication Techniques in Stroke Recovery," presented by Kelly O’Connor and Jeff Hodgson, St. Mary’s physical therapist and speech therapist
August 15: Dr. Logan McDaneld, Topic TBA, St. Mary’s Stroke Program Director
September 19: "Stroke Recovery with Hope and Happiness," presented by James Tanner, Recreation Therapist, St. Mary’s Hospital
October 17: Group members share their experiences.
November 21: "Spasticity and its Treatment" presented by Dr. Dan Slater, medical director, St. Mary’s Rehabilitation Services
December 19: No meeting for holidays
