Lunch is served at new Fruita Community Center
February 21, 2011
Gray Gourmet, a meal program for seniors aged 60 and older, is well known for providing nutritious midday meals at dining sites throughout Mesa County. The program recently began serving lunch at the new Fruita Community Center at 324 North Coulson Street. “Independence Village in Fruita had generously hosted us for many years,” says Todd Stevens, Gray Gourmet project supervisor.
The Fruita Community Center, has a designated senior dining room and recreation center. A Mesa County Public library branch is also located there. Lunch is served weekdays except Thursdays. “Diners have told us how pleased they are with the beautiful dining room and easy access to services,” notes Stevens.
Gray Gourmet diners can enjoy nutritionally balanced meals for only $3. Reservations are required and must be made one business day in advance. “Many people look forward to meeting friends at one of the dining sites, while others rely on our volunteers to bring a hot meal to their home,” says Stevens. “New diners and new volunteers are warmly welcomed.”
