Hospital Week recognizes professionalism and dedication to patients

National Hospital Week, May 8-14, 2011
St. Mary’s Hospital & Regional Medical Center is more than a place to get better. It is an integral part of the community. “Each year during National Hospital Week we reflect on how privileged we are that our friends and neighbors entrust their loved ones to our care,” says Mike McBride, president and CEO.
Hospital Week is also a time to give a special thanks to all our dedicated staff and physicians. “It requires an astounding number of people and professions to take care of our patients,” McBride says. “Everyone is trained in their own specialty, and they combine their talents to form an incredible team. Their confidence in each other and dedication to our patients is inspiring.”
St. Mary’s employees are justifiably proud of their training and profession, but the numerous types of caregivers can be confusing to patients. Like in many hospitals, St. Mary’s patient-care employees will soon be wearing uniforms color-coded to their occupation. “Patients feel an extra level of security when they know who is coming and going, and they realize how many different types of professionals are taking care of them,” McBride says.
