New operations officer joins St. Mary’s
January 10, 2012
Reza Kaleel is St. Mary’s new chief operating officer (COO). Kaleel joins the hospital from the CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Healthcare System (CSRHS) in San Antonio, Texas, where he served as the administrator for CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospital–Medical Center (CSRH-MC). He had been with CSRHS since December 2006.
Kaleel says his role as COO is to make sure the day-to-day operations of the hospital are running well and smoothly so employees can work as a team to carry out the organization’s vision. “My job is making sure the basics are in place so we can provide the highest quality care compassionately and efficiently,” he says. His decision to join St. Mary’s was in part influenced by Grand Junction’s reputation as an effective healthcare community. “I’m excited about working in a community known for its collaboration among providers and between payers and providers,” Kaleel says. “Healthcare works very differently in many communities.”
“One of Reza’s greatest accomplishments in his last position was the growth and development of a quality-driven and high-performing team. Under his leadership, the hospital team achieved excellent results in clinical quality, patient satisfaction, and employee satisfaction. Please join me in welcoming Reza and his wife, Shawn, to St. Mary’s and the Grand Valley.” —Mike McBride, President/CEO, St. Mary’s Hospital
