Holidays a reminder of St. Mary’s mission
December 23, 2013
Like many things in life, Christmas takes too long to arrive and is gone too quickly. But it shouldn’t pass without each of us taking time to reflect on how fortunate we are despite our daily challenges.
A friend takes a few minutes after her family has gone to bed to sit alone in her living room lit only by the Christmas tree. She jokes it’s the most flattering light for good memories. I look around the Christmas dinner table when everyone is busy passing the gravy and retelling stories from family Christmases past. That’s when I realize what it means to me to have these people around me and how seldom it happens these days.
Our thoughts are also with our friends and neighbors who are away from family because they are hospitalized and those who give up their own holidays to take care of them. St. Mary’s mission to reveal God’s healing love is especially meaningful now.
As we at St. Mary’s celebrate the birth of Christ, we thank our community for allowing us the honor of caring for you. We offer best wishes for a MerryChristmas and a Happy New Year.
