United Way Pacesetter Campaign
October 04, 2014
St. Mary’s is a United Way Pacesetter, one of a select group of organizations conducting workplace campaigns “setting the pace” before the community United Way drive. Pacesetters help raise about 80 percent of the total United Way donations.
“We had a lot of fun with events built around the 1980s theme,” says Shelly Tran, RN, co-chair of the hospital’s United Way campaign, “but through the Hip Hop and New Wave music and the crazy costumes, the message was clear: there are many in our community who are in need, and it’s up to those of us who are fortunate enough to be able to help to do what’s right.” Again this year the people of St. Mary’s proved they believe in their organization’s mission to improve and support their community, especially the poor and vulnerable. “My coworkers showed themselves to be generous and compassionate, once again,” Tran says. The hospital’s campaign raised almost $63,000 for the United Way of Mesa County.
