St. Mary's and McAlister's Deli team up for Great American Smokeout
November 17, 2014
Commit to quit and get a free cold turkey sandwich
St. Mary’s Hospital and McAlister’s Deli are making a special offer to tobacco users this Thursday to mark the Great American Smokeout, the American Cancer Society’s annual event to encourage Americans to stop using tobacco.
Come to McAlister’s Deli between 4:00 and 7:00 pm, turn in your tobacco, make a commitment to stop using tobacco, and get a free cold turkey sandwich.
But smokers don’t really need to quit ‘cold turkey’ because starting December 1, St. Mary’s will offer tobacco cessation services that include a physician consultation and assessment,” says Debra Hesse, coordinator of St. Mary’s Cancer Survivorship Program. Paula Marchionda, MD, trained in preventive medicine and cancer survivorship care, will provide one-on-one counseling to tobacco users. Participants may also receive support from the program’s pharmacist and social worker.
