Hematology

St. Mary's medical oncologists are also board-certified in hematology ― the study of disorders of the blood, bone marrow, and lymph nodes that produce and store the various liquid products our bodies need.

Hematologists treat patients with various types of blood disorders such as anemia.

Hematologists also work with patients with clotting disorders. Clotting problems are caused by too many or too few of various blood clotting factors and platelets and can be a hereditary or acquired problem.
