St. Mary's Hospital Department of Pathology and Laboratory Services provides hundreds of thousands test results each year. The modern laboratory is staffed with trained clinical scientists under the medical direction of board-certified pathologists and operates 24 hours a day to provide prompt test results.
St. Mary's laboratory performs blood tests, tissue biopsies, PAP smears, and other laboratory analysis for physicians and patients throughout western Colorado. State-of-the-art equipment interfaces with the hospital computer system allowing rapid transmission of results to the ordering physician.
The transfusion services laboratory offers full blood banking capability and operates St. Mary's Regional Blood Donor Center, which services surgical, oncology, and emergency patients at St. Mary's and most small hospitals in western Colorado.
St. Mary's Department of Pathology and Laboratory Services has earned accreditation from the Commission on Laboratory Accreditation of the College of American Pathologists.
