Friends of St. Mary's Hospital
It is a partnership that has helped shape the growth of an historic, regionally-renowned hospital, benefiting thousands of patients in the process. With the original intention to establish public relations between the Hospital and the community, St. Mary's Hospital Auxiliary was officially formed in January of 1956.
Over five decades later, the spirit of giving remains stronger than ever. The Auxiliary recently renamed itself the "Friends of St. Mary's Hospital" (FSMH) in order to attract more men to membership and redefine its presence as a volunteer organization. The Friends of St. Mary's is still dedicated to raising funds to support what has become the region's premier medical center.
FSMH has donated over $1 million to help St. Mary's Hospital fulfill its mission, with its most recent contribution of $50,000 benefiting the Hospital's Staff Education Fund.
FSMH continues to grow and find creative ways to service the Hospital and the community. Their most recent undertaking has been the planting and maintainence of the Hospital's Healing Garden. Located on the third floor of the Monument Zone, the Healing Garden was created to provide a calm and peaceful outside area for patients and visitors.
For over fifty years, this devoted group has evolved and changed along with the Hospital and mission it holds so dearly.
