The St. Mary's Total Joint Program offers pre- and post-surgical services designed to create a seamless patient experience.
Pre-surgical educational classes are held at St. Mary's Life Center.
Classes are led by physical therapists, nurses, occupational therapists, and a case manager and include:
- What to expect during the hospital stay through recovery,
- Baseline assessments including walking ability and strength, and
- Diagrammed instruction for pre and post-surgical exercises.
Following joint replacement surgery, patients work with a physical therapist when referred by the physician. Post-surgical intervention includes assessment of the patient's current status, review and progression of home exercises, and general movement activities.
